Reference calls can often be a good way to fill any gaps in knowledge you may have. When evaluating between your top two resource management providers, references can give you that qualitative information that could help you make the right decision. However, reference calls can be hard to come by and are usually very short conversations unless you’re prepared.

Here are the first three questions we recommend prospective clients ask when evaluating room and workspace scheduling solutions:
1. Are you the primary decision maker? What is your role?
Before you spend the next half hour talking to this individual, orient yourself and ensure you’re talking to the right person. You don’t necessarily need to speak to the primary decision maker, but you do need to understand what perspective this person is coming from.
2. When did you implement the system? What results have you had since?
Find out how long they’ve been a client and how recent their implementation was. Growing companies can change dramatically over years of expansion and development. Understanding where in the provider’s history this client falls will give you an additional perspective of the answers.
3. How successful was user-adoption? How was the training handled?
Asking questions regarding change management is very important. Your new space management solution is only as good as the people using it on a daily basis. And, workplace scheduling often involves every single person in the company. Driving space optimization and employee productivity only works if everyone uses the tools and abides by the scheduling policies.
